The Department of Philosophy, Leadership Studies, Humanities Center, and the Womens’ Leadership Initiative invite the entire campus community to join WVU alumna Chelsea Wierbonski for an inspirational and honest discussion about her personal journey from first-generation college student to senior project leader at Google.

Chealsea Wierbonski is a seasoned technology professional with over 25 years of experience working for leading Internet technology companies in New York City and Silicon Valley, including Google, DoubleClick, and McAfee. Originally from West Virginia, Chealsea graduated Cum Laude from West Virginia University in 1995 with a B.A. in Philosophy and a specialization in African American Studies.

Chealsea spent the first decade of her career as a technical writer before transitioning to product management. Today she is a senior product leader at Google. Chealsea has spoken at numerous company events and industry conferences, including AdMonsters, and has spoken at fireside chats at Google and Sailthru, as well as at Columbia University.

As the daughter of a coal miner and the first in her family to graduate from college, Chealsea realized that in order to excel in her career, she would need to get at the root of her limiting beliefs that were holding her back from creating the career she envisioned. Chealsea provides insights into her personal journey and the tools she used to overcome the negative self-perceptions that were holding her back from becoming the leader that she is today.
