The 4th annual Carl Hopkins WV Youth Aviation Expo is taking place Friday, August 09 and Saturday, August 10 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at The Bridge Sports Complex located at 400 Forrester Blvd., Bridgeport, WV 26330.
The emphasis of the Aviation Expo is to introduce W. Va. students to the growing aerospace industry in North Central West Virginia. This event allows for a hands-on learning experience. The activities include:
- Free Flight Model Airplane assembling and flying.
- Control Line Model Airplane-Professional demonstrations and a chance to try it out. Remote Control Model Aviation. Fly with an instructor/trainer.
- Drones-demonstrated by a professional operator.
- Rocketry-build your own and launch it at the expo. All supplies provided free of charge. Air Rockets-launch over and over again.
- Academy of Model Aeronautics Simulator Trailer-learn to fly. Blackhawk Helicopter fly-in. Landing at the expo.
- HealthNet Helicopter fly-in. Climb aboard for a look around. Para-Motor Flyers
- Parachute Jumpers
- Visit with College Representatives Speak to Corporate sponsor executives and so much more to see and do.
Ed Waske, the founder, planner and inspiration of the Aviation Expo knows the importance of igniting a spark of interest in this field at a young age. Carl Hopkins, for whom the expo is named in honor of, was a Clarksburg native who formed the state’s first model aviation club in 1928.
A successful career in aerospace is right here in West Virginia. This event is a steppingstone to that goal.
